Operatives of the Delta State Police Command, on Tuesday, rescued a 3-year-old boy from child traffickers in Abraka market, Oshimili-South Local Government Area of the state.

A press release issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe, said one Aisha Yusuf reported the stealing of her son to Abraka Police Station on that day.

Following the report, the Commissioner of Police, CP Wale Abass, ordered the DPO of the Division, CSP Apu Torukeregha, to put all on the line to apprehend the suspect and recover the kidnapped child.

In compliance with the directive, operatives of the division’s Anti-crime Patrol Team went on a frantic search for the stolen child to Anambra State where he was found in the custody of one Suleiman Mohammed.

It was gathered that the principal suspect, Mohammed Isah, who stole the child, was arrested and confessed to the crime while revealing the members of his gang to be Ibrahim Sani, Kabiru Ibrahim, Mohammed Isah and Abubakar Mohammed, a 32-year-old cripple.

The release stated that the suspects had already made plans on how to sell the child for the sum of N800,000 before they ran out of luck.

In a related development, men of the “A’ Division Warri Anti-Crime Patrol team, while on visibility patrol, recovered a locally fabricated cut-to-size pistol from an abandoned vehicle on Monday.

It was stated that the suspects abandoned the vehicle after sighting the police at African Church behind Daudu Police post.
