The Governor Godwin Obaseki-led administration in Edo State has received commendation for the reforms in the state’s civil/public service.

This commendation was given during an appreciation visit to the Edo State Head of Service, Anthony Okungbowa Esq., by Engr. Luke Oronsaye and his wife, parents of a First Class graduate recently employed by the State Government.

Speaking during the visit, the Head of Service noted Governor Obaseki’s commitment to ensuring that the right persons with the right skills are recruited into the Service to contribute their quota in the development and growth of the State without recourse to favouritism and bureaucratic practices that have held the Service down over time.

“So long as your brain is functioning well and you can contribute to the growth and development of the Service and, of course, by extension, governance, then we bring you in,” Okungbowa said.

“For us, we are proud of your son. Since he has been with us, I have deliberately looked out for his progress and as expected, he’s been a star performer. He has contributed immensely, even though for a very short time, to the growth and development of the Service,” he said.

Earlier, Engr. and Mrs Oronsaye thanked the State Government for its worker-friendly disposition, describing the State Government as one that keeps its promise to its people, as their son was automatically employed on graduating with a First Class degree as promised.

Emmanuel Oronsaye, a 24-year-old First Class graduate, was given automatic employment in April in fulfilment of Governor Obaseki’s resolve to employ fresh First Class graduates into the State’s Civil and Public Service.
