The Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Mr. Dauda Ali Biu, said the corps will continue to put measures in place to curb road traffic crashes across the country.

Biu made the assertion during the inauguration of the newly enlisted marshal inspectors at the Marshal Inspectorate Training School (MITS) Owa-Alero in Ika North East Local Government Area of Delta State.

The corps marshal, who was represented by the Deputy Corps Marshal, E. Osawe, said that the 2023 inauguration of the newly enlisted Marshal Inspectors Basic Course marked another milestone in the journey towards being engrafted to a team of committed workforce mandated to reducing road traffic crashes, injuries and fatalities on the roads.

He noted that the menace on the road was currently attracting global attention through the instrumentality of the United Nations Decade of Action for Road and Injury Prevention.

Biu stated that the enlisted stood at the threshold of an intensive programme designed to sharpen their abilities and professionalism.

He stressed that the programme was not just about acquiring technical expertise, but also about instilling a deep sense of responsibility and dedication towards saving lives on the roads.

The corps marshal therefore advised them to always bear it in mind as they embark on the training that road safety was a collective responsibility, as such they should be ready to discharge their duties with total commitment and diligence.

The Commandant, Federal Road Safety Corps, Marshal Inspectorate Training Camp (MITC) Owa-Alero, Mrs. Kudirat Ibrahim, stated that over the years, human capital development had remained a focal point for successive administrations in FRSC.

She disclosed that the high number of cadet officers, inspectors and trainees recently enlisted and recruited for training further confirms the corps’ quest for a bigger, better, robust and professionally sound workforce.

Ibrahim disclosed that on the 6th of June 2023, they opened their gates to successful cadet inspectors from across the federation for the 2023 Marshal Inspectors Basic Course.

“So far, a total of 380 persons, comprising 301 males and 79 females have reported, registered and screened. Also, same number of persons have since commenced the rudiments of regimentation are academic exercise in line with the training curriculum.

“Members of the Directing Staff and Instructors are mindful of the onerous responsibility of transforming the cadet inspectors and imbibing in them, the FRSC core values, hence their readiness,” she stated.

She said that the school would continue to provide the platform for modern training befitting the corps status as a world class organization.

The commandant advised the trainees to be focused and always look beyond their challenges, utilize the opportunity the training offered them, give their best in assimilating the lectures and leverage on knowledge gained for the achievements of the goals and objectives of the corps.
