The Nigerian Labour Congress and Trade Union Congress have suspended their planned nationwide strike slated for Tuesday.

The labour unions had announced plans to mobilise all of their members across Nigeria to proceed on indefinite strike to protest the removal of subsidy on petroleum which has seen pump price of petrol rise from the range of N184 to N537 per litre.

The NLC and TUC announced suspension of the industrial action late on Monday after hours of meeting with Chief of Staff to President Tinubu, Mr. Femi Gbajabiamila, NNPCL GMD, Mele Kyari and other representatives of the Federal Government. The meeting was held until about 10:30pm before both parties agreed to hold action to enable further negotiations.
