The Edo State government, through the Ministry of Social Development and Gender Issues, has re-united three mentally ill inmates discharged from Omo Herbal Home at Irrua in Esan Central Local Government Area in Edo State with their families amid excitement.

The Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Barbara Osobajo who was represented by the Director of Rehabilitation Department, Mr. Sylvester Okoeguele during the re-unification ceremony at the orphanage home advised the inmates to maintain good conduct and avoid situations that could cause a relapse in their mental health.

The Permanent Secretary assured Edo people of continuous government’s support, while advising the relatives of the discharged inmates to ensure that they get utmost attention and care as government has made provision to ensure their mental stability.

The Permanent Secretary commended Omo Herbal Home for its consistency in the care of mentally challenged, noting that the home had met up with all the standards required of them.

On his part, Mr. Chris Igbuta, a parent of one of the discharged inmates, appreciated the state government for the opportunity to be reunited with his child.
