…challenging Tinubu’s election victory

Amid objections by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC),

The Presidential Election Petitions Court in Abuja, on Wednesday took into evidence, result sheets of more states from across the country, in the petition filed by Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s (LP) presidential candidate.

This was despite objections from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Obi is seeking to upturn President Bola Tinubu’s victory in the February 25 presidential election.

Obi, came third in the said election. Coming first and second respectively, were Bola Ahmed Tinubu, of the All Progressives Congress (APC) now president of Nigeria and Atiku Abubakar, of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP). Atiku is likewise challenging Tinubu’s victory before the same tribunal.

At the resumed hearing of the petitions, counsel to the PDP expressed misgivings concerning INEC’s objection to the admissibility of documents the petitioners sought to put forward.

Obi and his party presented result sheets from more states. But the presentation of result sheets was met with stiff opposition as counsels for INEC, Tinubu and his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) raised objections.

The counsels said they would explain their objections in greater detail at the adoption their final written addresses.
