President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday held a closed-door meeting with Nigerian governors representing various states. The gathering, held at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, commenced at noon and included both newly elected and returning governors.

This meeting follows the swearing-in ceremony of Senator George Akume as the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF). During the event, Akume took the Oath of Allegiance and the Oath of Office in the presence of esteemed government officials.
Vice President Kashim Shettima, President of the Senate Ahmed Lawan, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State, Head of the Civil Service of the Federation Folasade Yemi-Esan, and Regina Akume, the spouse of the new SGF, were among the dignitaries present.
Since assuming the position of SGF, Senator Akume has promptly engaged in his responsibilities. Concurrently, President Tinubu has taken the opportunity to engage in discussions with governors from all 36 states under the platform of the Nigerian Governors Forum.
