President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has suspended the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. AbdulRasheed Bawa, indefinitely.
The decision was made in order to conduct a thorough investigation into allegations of misconduct during his tenure.
A statement issued by the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) revealed that weighty accusations of abuse of power have been brought against Mr. Bawa.
In compliance with the suspension, Bawa has been instructed to promptly hand over the responsibilities of his position to the Director of Operations within the Commission.
The Director will temporarily oversee the functions of the Chairman’s office until the investigation is concluded.
