The National Working Committee (NWC) of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has disowned the majority leadership positions announced by the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, and House Speaker, Tajudeen Abbas.

The party leadership said it has not officially communicated the presiding officers.

National Chairman of the party, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, made the declaration on Tuesday at a meeting with governors of the party.

He did not give details for the rejection of the new positions that were announced by the leadership of the lawmakers.

When this reporter nosed round the issue, it was said that some of those who were appointed by Akpabio and Abbas are not those who were announced by the party headship.

Akpabio had earlier on Tuesday announced the leadership of the Senate of the 10th National Assembly.

According to the Senate President, the emergence of the new principal officers was arrived at after wide consultation and approval by the APC.

To this end, Senator representing Ekiti Central Senatorial District, Bamidele Opeyemi, emerged Majority Leader of the 10th Senate; Senator representing Borno South Senatorial District, Ali Ndume, was announced as the Senate Chief Whip; Senator representing Ebonyi South, David Umahi, emerged as the Deputy Majority Leader, while Senator Lola Ashiru, representing Kwara North, took the position of the Deputy Majority Whip of the Senate.

Akpabio also announced principal officers from minority parties with Senator Mwadkwon Simon Davou, a PDP member representing Plateau North Senatorial District, emerging as the Minority Leader.
