The Parish Priest of St. Theresa Catholic Church, Ubeji, Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State, Rev. Fr. Cletus Enwefa, has cautioned youths against desperation to get rich quickly.

Enwefa gave this warning on Sunday, 30 July 2023, during this year’s Youth Week celebrations with the theme “Youth for Christ”.

The priest said the problem of Nigeria today is born out of desperation by the individual.

“Youths are too desperate to ride big cars, live in big houses and wear designer clothes and shoes despite being very lazy to work in achieving this success through hard work,” he said.

According to Fr. Enwefa, parents out of desperation most of the time pushed their children into crime by comparing them with their mates that had achieved so much, leading them into looking for easy ways to make wealth.

Enwefa advised youth to work hard and ask God for divine wisdom by taking an example from Solomon who didn’t seek for riches but rather asked God for wisdom because wisdom is what is needed in life.

“With wisdom, God will direct you the right way to go,” he added.
