Women of Aladja Community in Udu Local Government Area of Delta State have called on the state governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, to demarcate the boundary land between Aladja and Ogbe-Ijoh Communities to end the age-long crisis between the two communities.

The Aladja women made the call when they embarked on a peaceful protest over the attack on the Aladja Community on Tuesday night allegedly by the Ogbe-Ijoh Community.

The protesting women, who carried placards with various inscriptions, lamented the frequent attacks and fights between the two neighbouring communities since 1996.

Speaking to newsmen, the spokeswoman of Aladja Community, Mrs Florence Shakawo, alleged that the community was woken up in the wee hours of Wednesday morning with gunshots of attack by Ogbe-Ijoh Community warlords.

Mrs Shakawo said that the women of Aladja Community were sick and tired of the crisis, stating that many had lost their husbands, children and property to the lingering land dispute.

Also speaking, Mrs Blessing Badidi called on the men of Nigerian Army to continue the support to quell the land dispute and caution some of their officers whom the Aladja women accused of being complicit in the attacks against Aladja Community.

Mrs Badidi appealed to Governor Oborevwori to take urgent action to end the crisis, saying that the Aladja people were lovers of peace.

The Secretary of Aladja Community Women, Mrs Peace Apah, urged the state governor to demarcate the land in dispute in order to ensure lasting peace between the two warring communities.

Mrs Apah noted that one side of the land had been demarcated, stressing that the state government should continue with the process on the other side.
