… graduates work for banks, fintech companies, others – EdoJobs
In line with the vision of Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki to transform the state into the hub for global talent, Edo Tech Park, the state’s initiative to train work-ready tech talent modelled after America’s Silicon Valley, has graduated not less than 387 software engineers since it was set up in 2021.
The Tech Park is run in collaboration with Decagon, an elite software engineering and leadership training school and operates from a pilot campus in Benin City, the Edo State capital.
The Managing Director of Edo State Skills Development Agency (EdoJobs), Mrs. Violet Obiokoro, in a chat with journalists, said that the Edo Tech Park has created a new pathway for youths in the state to get elite training to become software engineers, get hired by global brands or set up tech companies.
According to her, “We have had good success with the Edo Tech Park, which is being run in partnership with Decagon. We have so far graduated 387 software engineers who can work anywhere in the world.
“Some of the graduates from the Edo Tech Park are working for clients in America, while others are developing software for banks in Nigeria as well as fintech companies. It is a whole new vista of opportunities for youths hoping to kickstart careers in the field of Information and Communication Technology (ICT).”
“We have the 6th cohort now. The training they get at Edo Tech Park prepares them for the world of work. So when the Edo State Governor said recently that the state is digitised, we are actually ready on all fronts, from the infrastructure with the fibre optic cables across the state to the requisite manpower that will leverage the structures to create wealth in the state,” she added.
