Mrs. Priestba Anthony, the News Director of the Rivers State Broadcasting Corporation, Port Harcourt, has been kidnapped.
Mrs.Anthony was reportedly kidnapped at about 7pm Friday, along Slaughter/YKC Road Woji, Obio/ Akpor Local Government, on her way back from work, said Pastor Ebi Ogoloma, the Director of Administration at the Rivers State Broadcasting Corporation.
Family sources are reported as saying that: “Her car broke down along that Slaughter/YKCR, she called her husband who later came with a mechanic to work on the car. It was in the presence of her husband and the mechanic that the kidnappers came and picked her up.
“They didn’t pick her husband or harm him, they just picked her and left.”
Ike Wigodo, Rivers State Secretary of the Nigerian Union Journalists (NUJ) has called for calm, saying the union has reported the matter to the state Commissioner of Police.
At the time of filing this report, the kidnappers had not contacted the family of the journalist and her whereabouts were unknown.
