Former governor of Kano State, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has been summoned by the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC) for questioning regarding allegations of accepting kickbacks in US dollars from contractors, as depicted in viral videos released by an online newspaper several years ago.

Muhuyi Magaji Rimingado, the chairman of the commission, announced that the anti-corruption agency intends to reopen the investigation into Ganduje in light of the controversial videos, which purportedly showed the former governor stuffing his flowing dress pockets with stacks of US dollar bills believed to be kickbacks from contractors. Ganduje has vehemently denied these allegations.

Rimingado further stated that the commission has received the forensic reports on the videos and is currently analyzing them.

It is worth noting that Mr. Ganduje is a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), whose candidate lost the governorship election to the current governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, representing the New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP). Governor Yusuf had previously pledged to investigate his predecessor.
