Nigerian baker, baking coach, recipe developer and content creator popularly known as Da Recipe Queen has set a world record as the first baker to bake and teach 56 amazing recipes in a space of 24 hours non-stop.

Although she had set out to bake 50 recipes in 24 hours in the bake-race which held 22-23 July 2023 in Lagos, Nigeria’s bustling commercial hub, Da Recipe Queen (real name Chioma Prisca Okeahialam) ended up topping that target with additional six recipes after having achieved the 50 recipes in 20 hours.

Before she embarked on the 50 recipes bake-race, there was no record of a baker baking and teaching that number of different recipes within a pre-defined time.

“Even in the GWR, the longest baking marathon by an individual was done in 31 hours and the lady only baked 2,500 cookies,” the Imo State-born baker said ahead of the bake-race which took place at Welcome Centre Hotels on Airport Road, Ikeja, Lagos.

The bake-race challenge saw Da Recipe Queen baking and teaching 56 of her amazing recipes, including Super moist vanilla cake, Vanilla yoghurt cake, Simple milk cake, Strawberry yoghurt cake, Melt in the mouth vanilla cake, Oil based vanilla cake, Margarine based red velvet, Oil based red velvet cake, Margarine based chocolate chips, Oil based chocolate cake, Special crumb cake, Moist coffee cake, Moist chocolate cake, and Red velvet oil and margarine cake.

She also baked Buttermilk spice cake, Coconut cake, Spicy carrot cake, Pineapple yoghurt cake, Simple fruit cake, Rich chocolate chips cake, Special citrus cake, Banana rum cake, Milk fruit cake, Super moist carrot cake, Honey butterscotch cake, Pink velvet cake, Green velvet cake, Alcoholic cream cake, Orange cake, Toasted coconut cake, Oil base fruit cake, Perfect lemon yoghurt cake, Special cream cake, and Vanilla Sponge cake.

Other recipes she baked are Buttermilk vanilla cake, Rich butter cake, Brown sugar pound cake, Yoghurt banana cake, Very moist lemon cake, Cinnamon tea cake, Salted caramel cake, All in 1 bowl mocha cake, White chocolate chips banana cake, Cookies and cream yoghurt cake, Caramel chocolate cake, Chocolate mayonnaise cake, Chocolate chunk cake, Plain brown cake, Banana yoghurt cake, and Fluffy vanilla cake.

For her, however, the baking challenge was not about the GWR. The idea of baking for 24 hours non-stop was to encourage bakers and, indeed, every business person to be resilient, enduring, and focused. She said she wanted also to expose bakers to the power of multi-tasking by baking and at the same time imparting knowledge within a pre-defined time.

While noting that many bakers do not know how to bake right, she said she intended that the bake-race would be of immense benefit to those bakers by providing suitable recipes and procedures that would help them get their baking right.

The bake-race afforded bakers and pastry enthusiasts who gathered at the venue from different parts of the country the opportunity to meet and network, and they all had great things to say about the experience.

The event was streamed live by many social media channels.
