The Oke Creative Future Foundation, in collaboration with Fight Cancer Global (FCG), has made a generous donation of medical supplies and equipment to five Primary Health Care Centres (PHCs) in Edo State. The recipients of this invaluable contribution are Evbuarue PHC, Camp 34 PHC, Obanakhoro PHC, Ogan PHC, and IDP Camp PHC.

The event took place on Friday, July 28, 2023, at the premises of Edo State Primary Health Care Development Agency (EDSPHCDA), Ezoti Street, Benin City.

The Executive Secretary, Edo State Primary Health Care Development Agency (EDSPHCDA), Dr. Izedonmwen Omosigho, received the medical equipment and supplies and expressed his heartfelt appreciation to the CEO of Oke Creative Future Foundation, Surv. Letter Okeoghene, and his partners at the Fight Cancer Global (FCG).

He believed that the donations resonated with the passion of His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Edo State, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, who has been actively working towards strengthening Primary Healthcare in the State by revamping PHCs, recruiting over 243 health workers to man the PHCs and training of staff to embrace the future of primary healthcare with the use of E-Clinic technology to revolutionize patient care, improve operational efficiency & enhance the overall healthcare experience.

Dr. Omosigho conveyed the Governor’s appreciation for the donation and assured Surv. Letter Okeoghene that the donated items would be put to good use at the Primary Health Care Centres, ensuring that they serve their intended purpose effectively.

The C.E.O. of Oke Creative Future Foundation, Mr. Letter Okeoghene, thanked Dr. Omosigho and his management team for warmly receiving them during the donation event. He extended his appreciation to his partner, Fight Cancer Global, and everyone involved in supporting the foundation’s mission. Okeoghene shared the personal motivation behind his commitment to this cause, attributing it to the loss of a loved one to breast cancer. This deeply emotional experience fueled his determination to prevent others from suffering a similar fate.

He stated that over the years, Oke Creative Future Foundation, in collaboration with Fight Cancer Global has made a positive impact on countless lives in Edo State and Nigeria at large. Their efforts have encompassed various cancer outreaches, educational initiatives, and empowerment programs, ultimately saving lives and promoting well-being.

The donated medical equipment and supplies are set to aid the PHC services and empower communities in Edo State. Okeoghene and Fight Cancer Global’s CEO, VJ Kondur, conveyed their dedication to making a difference in the lives of the people in the state through this donation.

A health talk was delivered during the event by Dr. Efeomon Eseigbe, the Deputy Director, Disease Control and Immunization, EDSPHCDA, to raise awareness about cancer as an alarming public health challenge in Nigeria.

Dr. Eseigbe shed light on the prevalence of cancer in the country, with approximately 102,000 new cases and 72,000 deaths annually. Cervical and breast cancer are prevalent among women, while prostate cancer is prevalent among men. He also emphasized the importance of regular breast examinations and cervical cancer screening for early detection and encouraged men 40 years and over, to seek medical examinations for prostate cancer. He expressed the need for citizens to embrace the Human Papillomavirus vaccine, which will be introduced in the routine Immunization schedule next year to prevent cervical cancer.

The medical supplies and equipment donated to the five PHCs include hospital beds, delivery beds, mattresses, bed sheets, BP machines, screens, galipots, pillows, drip stands, infant and adult weighing scales, kidney dishes and forceps.
