A 20-year-old girl has been hospitalised for a strange vaginal ailment after sleeping with a family friend in Benin City.
The ugly incident reportedly had its roots in a guest house at Idogbo, the administrative headquarters of Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area of Edo State.
The suspect, Obode (other names withheld), 24 years old invited the girl, Osunnobun to the lodge where they drank alcohol before engaging in sexual intercourse.
The girl was said to have slept off after the act as she woke up the following day to see her private part puffed out from her pelvic floor while the boy was nowhere to be found.
The Commissioner of Police in Edo State, CP Mohammed Dankwara, said the suspect was arrested following a report made to police by the father of the girl, one Mr. Johnbull Alade.
CP Dankwara further stated that the victim’s father laid the complaint on August 20, 2023, as the police swiftly rushed “the victim to the University of Benin Teaching Hospital where she is currently on admission”.
The CP also said the suspect having invited his victim to his room in the lodge mixed some substances and gave her to drink as she slept off, afterwards.
“He will soon be charged to court for rape, indecent assault against a female and wounding”, the police chief stated.
The suspect, Obode, admitted to have actually invited the girl to his room in the lodge having known her for two weeks through his friend who is her family friend as he Obodo lives in the same neighbourhood with the girl.
“I didn’t rape the girl, she is my girlfriend, I invited her to my lodge where we had direct sexual intercourse, that was early April.
“I only drank Black Bullets and I bought Campari for her. That was our first meeting. I travelled since.
“When I returned three weeks ago, her family member called me to say that I used her sister for money rituals when I made love to her. I said I didn’t and that we only had sex.
“I am still in shock by her swollen private part in the photo. I am an electrician and she said she is an apprentice. I am innocent. I am just thanking God today that she is responding to treatment”, the suspect said.
