As part of efforts towards improving the health of Nigerians, and leaving no one behind, the Edo State National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) Organised Private Sector Unit, has held a sensitisation session on the importance of NHIA’s Group Individual Family Social Health Insurance Program (GIFSHIP) at the University Preparatory Secondary School (UPSS) in Benin City, Edo State.
The Edo State Ag. Coordinator NHIA, Theodore Ehannire, who was welcomed by the management of UPSS alongside his team, said the purpose of the sensitisation was to achieve universal health coverage.
Theodore further noted that in order to achieve universal health coverage, the NHIA aims to work in partnership with the State Government and other critical stakeholders including the Organised Private Sector (OPS), for the coverage of schools and other organised institutions of employment.
Mrs. Juliet Urevbu, Proprietress of UPSS, said she was delighted at the development and ascertained that the school’s board would meet for final decisions of enrolling UPSS staff members on GIFSHIP. UPSS is one of the biggest private schools in Benin City, with over 100 staff members on its payroll.
