The member representing Ika Nation in Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), Hon. Cordilia Anyangwu, has harped on the need to sustain the existing peace among the oil producing communities in the area.

Hon. Anyangwu handed down the admonition on Monday when members of the Concerned Citizens of Abavo paid her a courtesy visit at her office in Agbor.

She said, “I want to passionately appeal to all oil bearing communities in this locality to ensure that peace reigns in your communities because that is the only way to attract attention and development.”

She disclosed that the oil treasure deposited in the various communities was not a mistake by God and urged them to use it to better the area instead of seeing it as an instrument of disunity and rancour.

Hon. Anyangwu thanked the body for always identifying with her achievements and assured them that she would continue to partner with them.

Speaking further, she appealed to them to play a major role in ensuring that the existing peace between Abavo and Obiayima Community was consolidated in order to ensure a peaceful environment for oil exploration.

Also speaking, the President of the Concerned Citizens of Abavo, Mr Felix Onwugbenu, stated that they were in her office to congratulate her on her appointment and to discuss ways to contribute their quota to the success of her assignment in DESOPADEC.

He appealed to the commissioner to looked into the reconstruction of Boi Aghedo Road to Abavo Mixed Secondary School Oyoko in Abavo.
