…installs Okhaimo 18th president

Rotary Club of Auchi Metropolitan, District 9141, has earmarked 10 community service projects to be completed and inaugurated in the next one year.

The newly elected president of the club, Comrade Victor Okhaimo, stated this during his installation as the 18th president of the club in Auchi.

Comrade Okhaimo said the 10 community service projects include construction of borehole, construction of public toilet, renovation of primary and secondary schools, provision of one-year scholarship support to 15 indigent students, and donation of books and other learning materials to schools.

Others are micro credit/grants to widows and female entrepreneurs, provision of speed limit/traffic signs along major roads in Auchi and environs, and construction of grandfather’s clock in major junctions in the area.

“My plan is to start, complete and commission 10 community service projects throughout this Rotary year,” Okhaimo said.

“We have identified Auchi as one of the fastest growing towns in Nigeria and we have no option than to ensure our club grows in tandem with this trend,” he said.

The president noted that the need for the projects cannot be overemphasized as there are many people within the communities whose only hope comes from Rotary.

He assured that his leadership would impact positively on the lives of the people within the community during his tenure.

“Let us all leave here ready to make their lives better in the little ways that we can.

“As a Rotarians, let us with renewed vigour support our communities with ideals of Rotary, let us lead the way as Rotary shares its legacy of Service Above Self,” he said.

He further stated that one of the goals is to localize the club and ensure its leadership starts evolving around members residing within the town and its environs, adding that this would definitely improve membership strength and the fortunes of the club.

The outgoing president, Mr Lucky Idahosa, thanked members for their support during his tenure and urged Rotarians to support the news exco.

“I want to specially thank all Rotarians from the depth of my heart, particularly my Rotary leaders who stood by me and my team this Rotary year.

“Our success story would not have been possible without your immense contribution,” Idahosa said.

Highpoint of the ceremony was the induction of board of directors, new members and presentation of humanitarian awards to the Deputy Gov of Edo State, Rt. Hon. Philip Shaibu, Prof Medina Kadiri, Dr. Sadiq Ikharo and Dr Sunny Eshiotse.

The club earlier visited the Itsoghena Orphanage Home where food items, educational and clothing materials worth thousands of naira were donated to the children of the home.
