In a bid to broaden the reach of qualitative health care services and reduce out of pocket spending for  Edo State residents, the Edo State Health Insurance Commission has met with stakeholders of the Ambrose Ali University in the clinical faculty on the 12th of September 2023.

The Department of Planning Research and Statistics Director, Dr Owen Omorogbe said the meeting with the clinic stakeholders was to come up with concise resolutions towards drawing up a road map to ensure that qualitative clinical services would be rendered at the school’s facility.

According to the DPRS Director, the Commission came up with three major points to determine ways and means to draw up a quality health insurance plan for the health centres domiciled in the facility, as well as make sure clinical services are rendered unhindered and to determine a proper data flow and transmission process.

Similarly, on the 14th of September 2023, the team visited the Esako West Secretariat in Auchi where they engaged stakeholders from all facets of life to bring to their knowledge the strategic benefits of the Edo State Health Insurance Scheme.

Dr. Owen observed that the state’s health insurance benefit packages, tariffs and premiums, are essentially the best in the country and therefore addvised residents of the state to make good use of the facility.

Own further said the informal sector has four plans which are the Bronze plan, this is rated at N18,000 a year and has benefits worth of over N1.5million. For the Silver plan which is N35,000 annually the package is worth over N2.5million, while the Gold package is rated at N68,000 but has benefits worth over N3.5million. There is also the most robust plan which is rated N75,000 with benefits worth over  N4.5million.
