Edo State Primary Healthcare Development Agency (EDSPHCDA), in collaboration with the World Health Organisation (WHO), Momentum Routine Immunization Transformation and Equity (USAID M-RITE), and Zenith Bank joined the global community in celebrating Customer Service Week from 2nd to 6th of October 2023.

The theme for year 2023 celebration, “Theme Service,” set the tone for a week dedicated to recognizing the pivotal role of customer service and the individuals who tirelessly support customers/clients day in and day out.

The week was nothing short of fun and excitement as EDSPHCDA engaged in a series of activities aimed at expressing their heartfelt gratitude to the communities they serve diligently.

One of the standout events during the week was the Community Outreach and Free Medical Screening, which spanned across all 18 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Edo State. From 2nd through the 6th of October, 2023 at Edo South, Edo Central, and Edo North regions as customers/clients were treated to this invaluable service.

Adding a competitive spirit to the celebrations, an Interdepartmental Quiz was organized, and was completed with exciting gifts for the best LGAs and Departments. Among the contestants, Mr. Nosa Oreye from the Executive Secretary’s Office emerged as the winner with Mrs. Theodora Edonyabor from Community and Family Health Services department securing the first runner-up position, followed closely by Mrs. Faith Inyinbor Ihegbe from Igueben Local Health Authority, who clinched the second runner-up position after a thrilling tiebreaker with Mrs. Abieyuwa Churchill from the Procurement Department and Mr. Alex from the Planning, Research, and Statistics Department.

The fun-filled Customer Service Week celebration climaxed on Friday, the 6th of October, 2023, with the Executive Secretary leading the staff and management of EDSPHCDA on a road walk through the ring road axis, making a stop at the Secretariat Complex. Notably, the Honourable Commissioner for Health, Dr. Samuel Alli, and the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Stanley Ehiarinmwian, joined the walk in solidarity with the Agency.

Addressing the press during the occasion, Dr. Samuel Alli, the Honorable Commissioner for Health, expressed the significance of Customer Service Week. He hailed it as a great occasion to celebrate the dedication of all health workers in the state who diligently provide healthcare services to Edo people. Dr. Alli also recognized the importance of celebrating the customer/client, acknowledging that without them, there would be no health worker.

Dr. Omosigho Izedonmwen, the Executive Secretary, EDSPHCDA expressed his profound gratitude to the Executive Governor of Edo State for creating an enabling environment for health workers to serve Edo people. He extended his appreciation to Dr. Samuel Alli, the Honorable Commissioner for Health, for his unwavering support in ensuring the success and growth of Primary Healthcare in the state.

Further, Dr.Izedonmwen acknowledged the pivotal role played by Mrs.Lanre Babalola, the EDSPHCDA Quality and Compliance Consultant, in orchestrating the successful week. He also expressed his gratitude to all the staff and management of EDSPHCDA, as well as our valued customers/clients, the good people of Edo State, technical partners, and stakeholders. He emphasized that their trust, support and feedback have been the driving force behind the Agency’s unwavering commitment to excellence.
