The vaccination of girls between ages 9 and 14 years old against the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) is to commence in Edo State in the first quarter of 2024, according to a statement by Irene Uabor, the Head, Health Education Unit, Edo State Primary Health Care Development Agency (EDSPHCDA).

The statement indicated that the EDSPHCDA has commenced sensitisation of the people in the state, with a view to creating awareness on the vaccine roll-out.

According to the statement, sixteen states will participate in the first phase of the vaccination exercise which begins on Tuesday October 24, 2023.

The statement added that Edo State is among the 21 states earmarked for the second phase of the HPV vaccination in the 36 states of Nigeria, including Abuja.
