As Nigerians celebrate the 63rd independence anniversary of our nationhood, the Managing Director of the Benin-Owena River Basin Development Authority (BORBDA), Engineer Saliu Ahmed has urged citizens to be patient with the President Bola Tinubu-led administration as it refits the nation’s economy.

Engr Ahmed made the call on Sunday in his congratulatory message to celebrate the nation’s 63rd Independence anniversary.

According to him, ”I am a staunch believer in the President’s renewed hope mantra. I urged Nigerians to exercise a little bit of patience as the administration tries to refit the economy while also dismantling the systemic clogs preventing good governance.”

Ahmed who noted that getting to 63 years of nationhood has been a good and rough journey, much as the independence came on a platter of gold, noting that the route to nationhood had not been rosy.

While appreciating the vision of the founding fathers who fought for independence, he added that the best period for Nigeria history was the discovering of crude oil.

He attributed the poor management of the gains of the discovery of crude oil to the prolonged/successive military regimes which couldn’t get it right.
