Delta State Commissioner for Environment, Mr. Jamani Tommy Ejiro has called for more collaboration, especially with the private sector in providing a cleaner and aesthetic environment in the state.

The Honorable Commissioner made this call in Asaba during a media interactive section with journalists on the need for a more robust collaboration with all sectors in promoting a clean and healthy environment for the benefit and total well-being of the good people of Delta State.

Mr. Jamani Tommy Ejiro while expressing displeasure at the attitude of the people towards their inability to keep a clean environment, noted that dirty environment has negative effect on humans health, adding that it is imperative for us to keep our environment clean at all times.

The Environment Commissioner while calling on all Deltans, the private sector and other relevant organizations to join hands with the government in the quest to promote a clean environment, reiterated that the State Government is committed to protecting the air, water and land through the use of bylaws and other environmental programs and legislation.

Jamani while speaking on the need for quality hygiene and environmental health, told newsmen that environmental health is the branch of public health concerned with all aspects of the natural and built environment affecting human health. He maintained that, in order to effectively control factors that may affect our health, the requirements that must be met in order to create a healthy environment must be determined and this involves a collective effort in this regard.

He however noted that government is ready to partner with relevant agencies, private sectors amongst others with a view to improving environmental quality and economic development of the state amid at achieving a desirable result for the safety and total wellbeing of the people of Delta state.

The Commissioner while still speaking, said that the idea to improve environmental quality, explore new approaches to the policy and practice of environmental stewardship and sustainable development and promote community and economic development is very key to this administration in advancing Delta State through the M.O.R.E. Agenda of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.
