In a resounding call for solidarity and decisive action, Muslim organizations across Edo State have rallied together, urging Islamic nations to take a unified stance on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

The call was contained in a 12-point communique issued after a public lecture organized by eight different Muslim organizations in Edo North including the United Muslim Youths Association of Nigeria (UMYAN); the Edo Muslim for Equity and Good Governance (EMEGG), the Association of Modern Islamic Schools (AMIS); the Da’wah Movement; the Muslim Forum; the IDEAI and the Muslim Students Society of Nigeria (MSSN) which held at the Auchi Polytechnic New Auditorium titled, “Palestine Our Concern”.

The two main topics discussed at the public lecture are: Historical Background and overview of the Historical Conflict of the Israeli/Palestinians conflict by Mallam Harun Umar, and the Muslim Concern and Approach towards achieving a lasting solution by Mallam Shuaib Muhammad.

According to the communique, “The Muslim Ummah therefore calls on the Muslim countries to make a bold and firm reaction to the Israeli attacks. The gathering painfully identified the divisions amongst Muslims as the fundamental reason for the obvious weakness in the Muslim Ummah which has rendered it impotent to even react to attack on Muslim interest like what is happening to Palestinians now.”

The collective voice of these organizations echoes the sentiment that the ongoing conflict demands a bold, common decision from the Islamic world. This call to action is rooted in the belief that a united front among Islamic nations holds the potential to leverage significant influence towards facilitating a peaceful resolution to the long-standing Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

The plea for solidarity underscores the urgency for Islamic nations to jointly assert their positions, advocating for diplomatic solutions, humanitarian aid, and the protection of human rights for all affected individuals in the conflict. By consolidating their efforts, these organizations envision a more potent and impactful role for Islamic nations in the pursuit of peace and stability in the region.

The group pleaded for a collective action by Edo State’s Muslim organizations, signifying a concerted effort for Islamic nations to step forward boldly, emphasizing the need for a unified stance that transcends individual interests in favour of a common pursuit of lasting peace in the Israeli-Palestinian context.

Adding to the depth of discussions, the keynote speaker, Barrister Nurudeen Asunogie and the former acting rector of Auchi Polytechnic, and the chairman of the occasion, Mallam Hassan Abubakar delivered compelling keynote and welcome addresses centered on the theme of seeking support, prayers and resolution in the conflict.
