…says election victory has vindicated him

Imo State governor, Hope Uzodimma, has thanked his supporters following his victory in Saturday’s election in the state.

Uzodimma, who sought reelection for a second term in office on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), was on Sunday declared the winner of the Imo governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) after he cleared all 27 local government areas of the South-East state.

The governor, speaking during a thanksgiving service in Owerri, the state capital, on Sunday, said his latest victory shows he actually won the Imo governorship election back in 2019 but was cheated until the Supreme Court came to the rescue.

“Your trust in me to continue leading our dear state is both inspiring and deeply appreciated. Together, we have achieved a resounding victory and I am committed to delivering on the promises made during our campaign,” Uzodimma said.

“This victory is very dear to me because it is vindication that the same God who did it before will do it again,” he said.

Recall that INEC conducted off-cycle governorship elections in Imo, Bayelsa and Kogi States on Saturday, 11 November 2023.
