Delta State Commissioner for Water Resources and Development, Hon. Tosan Wilkie, has charged the management and staff of the Delta State Water Sector Regulatory Commission (DSWSRC) on commitment to duty and cooperation with relevant stakeholders to ensure adequate provision of potable water in the state.

The commissioner gave the charge during a familiarisation visit to the commission on Tuesday in Asaba.

Wilkie wondered why running water taps across the state while he was growing up had suddenly dried up and frowned at the current situation, saying there was an urgent need to return to the good old days of water supply in the state.

He stressed the need for his ministry and the commission to work out measures to make Deltans happy in terms of water supply, which would in turn guarantee support from the people for the state government.

The commissioner assured that portable water would be made available in the state, describing the present situation as too poor, even as he lauded the Director General of the Commission, Engr. Henry Idama, and the staff for their commitment in the discharge of their duties.

In his remarks Engr. Idama thanked the commissioner for the visit and assured him of the support of the commission, saying that the success of the ministry and that of the commission were linked to the realisation of the MORE Agenda of the state government.

Idama appealed to the commissioner for support for the commission in such areas as adherence to the enacted water law and provision of an enabling environment for efficient water supply in the state.
