The Nigerian Legion has promised a strong partnership to secure and propel Edo State in the direction of sustained peace and development, which has been recorded by Governor Godwin Obaseki.

The chairman of the Nigerian Legion, Sir Ignatius Enabulele, who made the promise during the launching of the Emblem Appeal week for the 2024 Armed Forces Remembrance Day in Benin City, said the development and progress that have been recorded in Edo State is due to Governor Obaseki’s strong conviction that with a secured environment, development is assured and that with security comes the much needed investments, even from the private sector.

“Words are not enough to thank Your Excellency, for all you have done and continue to do in ensuring that the task of keeping Edo State safe is never compromised.

“Your Excellency continues to demonstrate at every fora that the welfare of uniform officers and the general environment within which they work are befitting despite the scarce resources at the state’s disposal. This is certainly a confirmation that your Excellency who has long become known as the Wake and See Governor is convinced in the truism that security of the people is the supreme law.

“These very visible impact of Your Excellency in the areas of road construction, upgrade of the Civil Service, human capacity development, power as seen in the Ossiomo Power Project, oil exploration to mention but a few bear eloquent testimony to the fact that with security comes safety of lives and property and societal development,” he said.

The Edo State Commissioner for Youth and Humanitarian Affairs. Hon. Zubairu Dada Abubakar, who represented the state governor at the Emblem Appeal launch, said the event is to encourage the serving armed forces members that loyalty and sacrifice pay.
