The much anticipated 34th African Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament kicks off today, Saturday, January 13, in Ivory Coast.
This 2023 AFCON was delayed from last summer due to concerns over the weather.
Across four weeks of football tourney, 24 nations will battle it out for the biggest prize in African football.
Morocco are favourites, followed closely by title holders Senegal, hosts Ivory Coast, Algeria, Egypt and Nigeria.
It will be one-month of battle for supremacy among 24 African countries who have qualified for the continent’s biggest sporting event and who have their eyes on the prestigious trophy, the prestige and the $7million prize placed on the table for the eventual champions.
After the tournament opener, other group-stage games will follow on Sunday, January 14, including the game between Super Eagles of Nigeria and Equatoria Guinea at 3pm.
