The National Agency for Food and Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NAFDAC) has recovered 24 cartons of expired ‘maggie’ cubes estimating the worth of 4.5 million naira in Sokoto.

While speaking to the News Agency of Nigeria, the NAFDAC coordinator of Sokoto, Garba Adams, said that a patrol team from the agency made the seizure, noting that the owners of the goods had been contacted and would be sanctioned accordingly.

Adams expressed his displeasure regarding the appalling behaviours of traders who have capitalized on selling expired products in the market.

“Some marketers are in the habit of dumping expired products in markets in Sokoto and environs while some are taken to border markets and rural areas for consumption,” Adams maintained.

He kicked against traders who sold expired, fake, or unregistered goods to the public, stating that the Agency would ensure that they were dealt with if caught.

As a matter of concern, he further urged Nigerians to always check or look out for the NAFDAC registration number before purchasing a product for their safety.

The Sokoto State NAFDAC Coordinator went on praising law enforcement agencies, sister agencies, and well-meaning Nigerians for their magnanimous support to NAFDAC towards the protection of the well-being of the general public.
