The ever diligent National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Kano command, has arrested 198 drug suspects and taken down illicit drug joints in the state.

The NDLEA officially declared the report in a statement to newsmen on Tuesday in Kano through the spokesman of the Agency, Mr. Sadiq Muhammed Maigatari.

Sadiq stated that the arrests were carried out between January 17 and January 26 during an ongoing “Operation Stop Drug Abuse” that was launched by the Agency’s state commander, Abubakar Idris Ahmad.

The operation aimed at battling the rampant issue of drug trafficking and Abuse in the state.

Sadiq also disclosed that out the 198 suspects, 177 were males and 21 females. He also added that 61 suspects were rounded up in a club that had been transformed into a territory for illegal drugs trafficking and sales.

“The 42 suspects were arrested at Dan Agundi graveyard and 21 drug joints including Sheka graveyard and sheka Obajana were dismantled to create a safer environment and discourage drug-related activities in the state,” Sadig said.

According to him, the NDLEA practically redeemed a substantial amount of illegal substances such as cannabis, extol five rubber solution, “suck and die’ amongst other harmful substances.

While making known the Agency’s commitment and readiness to curb the issue of drug abuse and trafficking, Sadiq also urged the members of the general public to be watchful and not hesitate to report any suspicious activities on drug abuse and trafficking to appropriate authorities.
