Africa Prudential Plc, a leading player in the Nigerian capital market, will undergo a significant leadership transition effective February 28, 2024. The company’s Board of Directors has acknowledged the resignation of Obong Idiong, the current Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, as he steps down to pursue higher responsibilities.

Idiong’s departure marks the end of an era characterised by remarkable contributions to Africa Prudential Plc’s growth. The board expressed its gratitude for his dedication and leadership, extending best wishes for success in his future endeavours.

In response to Idiong’s resignation, the board has appointed Catherine Uzoamaka Nwosu as the incoming Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, effective March 1, 2024. However, this appointment is subject to approval by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

“Furthermore, the board has appointed Catherine Uzoamaka Nwosu as the incoming Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, effective March 1, 2024, subject to approval of the Securities and Exchange Commission,” African Prudential said.

Nwosu brings a wealth of experience to her new role, having served as the 2nd Vice President at the Institute of Capital Market Registrars (ICMR). Her career highlights include a distinguished tenure as the Head of Stakeholders Engagement at BUA Group. Notably, Nwosu has been associated with Africa Prudential Plc since its inception in 2006, holding various positions, including Chief Operating Officer (COO) from 2010 to 2022.

“Her association with Africa Prudential Plc dates back to its inception in 2006, where she served in various capacities and notably as Chief Operating Officer (COO) from 2010 to 2022,” the firm noted.

Her qualifications include completing the Senior Management Program at the Lagos Business School, being a Fellow of the Institute of Capital Market Registrars, and an Associate Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria. Nwosu holds degrees in Business Administration, including an MBA.
