The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Ifeoluwa Ehindero, as the winner of the by-election in Akoko North-East/Akoko North-West Federal Constituency in Ondo State.

The Returning Officer in the election, Prof. Johnson Fasinmirin, of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) announced the results at the collation centre at Victory College, Ikare-Akoko.

Fasinmirin said that the APC candidate polled 35,504 votes to defeat his main opponent Bada Olalekan of the People Democratic Party (PDP) who scored 15,328 votes.

According to him, total votes cast were 51,896; total valid votes were 51,341; while 555 votes were rejected.
The Federal Constituency seat became vacant in 2023, after the former legislator, Hon. Olubummi Tunji-Ojo resigned, following his appointment as Minister of Interior by President Bola Tinubu.

In a similar development, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has emerged as the winner in all the state constituency seats in the recently concluded rerun elections in Bauchi State.

Jamilu Dahiru of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) secured victory in the Bauchi Central Constituency rerun election with a total of 45,240 votes, defeating his closest rival Aliyu Abdullahi of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who received 41,266 votes.

Abubakar Suleiman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was officially declared the winner of the Ningi Central Constituency rerun election by INEC, obtaining a total of 11,785 votes and surpassing his major contender Khalid Ningi of the All Progressives Congress, who received 10,339 votes.

Also, INEC announced Nasiru Ala of the PDP as the winner of the Madara/Chinade rerun election with a cumulative vote of 13,920, defeating Dantata Ali of the APC, who obtained 9,710 votes.

In the Zungur/Galambi Constituency rerun, Sa’idu Ahmed of the PDP emerged victorious with a total of 26,821 votes, defeating his major opponent Ibrahim Yuguda of the APC, who received 24,376 votes.

In Kaduna State, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the former speaker of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, Yusuf Liman of the All Progressive Congress (APC) as the winner of Saturday’s by-election for the Makera State Constituency.

Liman scored a total of 18,068 votes to defeat his main contender, Solomon Katuka of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who polled 17, 404 votes to come second. Usman Yakuti of the Labour Party got 3,709 votes to finish third.

According to INEC, the election was conducted in five polling units in the Makera Constituency – Kakuri Hausa, Television, Kakuri Gwari, Barnwa 1 and Barnwa 2 to determine the winner.

Similarly, Nura Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been declared the winner of the election for Kudan State Constituency in Kaduna State after he polled a total of 24,178 votes to defeat the candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Abbas Faisal who polled 22,438 votes, while Suleiman Umar of labour party got 1,491 votes to come third.

Also, Hussein Jallo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was returned elected for the Igabi Federal Constituency by-election after he scored a total of 47, 313 votes to defeat Zayyad Ibrahim of the All Progressive Congress (APC), who got 43,915 votes.

In the Chikun Constituency, the returning officer, Professor Isah Bayero of the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, declared David Jesse of the All Progressive Congress (APC) as the winner with 18,566 votes while his closest rival, Maria Dogo of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) scored 10,903 votes.

The Labour Party candidate, Solomon Adamu scored 3,285 votes to come distant third.

In Ebonyi State, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Anthony Ani, as the winner of the Ebonyi South Senatorial District by-election conducted on Saturday.

The Returning Officer for Ebonyi South senatorial by-election, Uchechukwu Eze, in the early hours of Sunday, made the declaration at Afikpo North Local Government Area of the state which serves as the senatorial district headquarters.

He stated that Ani having secured the highest number of votes in the just concluded by-elections, is declared winner and returned as Senator-elect.

Professor Ani polled a total of 46,270 votes to defeat, Linus Okorie of Labour Party (LP) scored 2,710, Ifeanyi Eleje of All Grand Progressive Congress (APGA), 3,513 and Silas Onu of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) 2,783 votes.

Professor Ani will replace the current serving Minister of Works, Senator Dave Umahi at the National Assembly as Senator representing Ebonyi South at the Red Chamber.

Umahi resigned from the seat after President Bola Tinubu appointed him into his cabinet as the Minister of Works.

Also, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Honourable Pius Ashakia has won the Obanliku State Constituency rerun election in Cross River State.

He was declared the winner of the February 3, 2024 rerun election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Returning Officer, Dr Blessing Anyalebechi.

Ashakia polled a total of 10,587 votes, to defeat his main contender, Sunday Achunekang of the All Progressives Congress (APC), with a total of 10,427 votes.

In Sokoto State, INEC has declared the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Umar Yusuf, as the winner of the rerun election for the Yabo/Shagari Federal Constituency in Sokoto State.

The INEC Returning Officer for Yabo/Shagari Federal Constituency Rerun Election, Professor Abubakar Abdullahi-Bagudo, declared that Umar Yusuf of the PDP is the winner of the election having certified the requirements of the law.

Yusuf defeated his closest rival Abubakar Umar of the All Progressives Congress (APC) despite scoring fewer votes of 2,249 votes in the rerun election compared to the APC candidate Abubakar Umar, who scored a total of 3,741 votes.

Umar Yusuf Yabo was declared winner after scoring a total of 26,829 against the APC candidate Abubakar Umar who scored a total of 26,113 votes.

In Lagos State, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Fuad Laguda, was declared as winner of the Surulere Federal Constituency 1 by-Election.

Declaring the results, the Returning Officer for the by-election, Prof Simeon Adebayo, revealed that the APC candidate polled a total of 11, 203 votes.

Laguda, a former APC chairman in the Surulere Local Government replaced Femi Gbajabiamila who was appointed as the Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu mid-2023.

Gbajabiamila was the Speaker of the House of Representatives between 2019 and 2023 and had won his re-election into the House for the sixth consecutive term to represent the Surulere 1 Federal Constituency during the February 25 National Assembly election before his appointment as Chief of Staff to the President mid-2023.
