Erling Haaland became the first player to score 50 goals in their first 50 Premier League starts as he fired Manchester City to a 2-0 win over Everton.

Haaland made the most of his first start at the Etihad Stadium for two months by striking twice in the final 20 minutes after Everton had dug deep and frustrated the champions. And the Norwegian opened up on how much he had missed playing after a lengthy spell on the sidelines with a foot injury.

“It’s been horrible, I really don’t like it but it makes you appreciate more going into training every day, you appreciate meeting up for games and being a little nervous, it makes your mind think a bit different,” Haaland told TNT Sport.

“I appreciate coming into training so much more, it makes you think differently,” he added.
