Pep Guardiola has responded to speculations that Erling Haaland is unhappy at Manchester City.

Reports from Spain claim that the Norwegian is ready to make a move, with the striker linked with a transfer to Real Madrid.

Guardiola said: “You have to ask the media from Madrid, maybe they have more info than we have. We don’t have that feeling.

“He could not play for two months because he was injured but maybe the media from Spain, and especially Madrid, have more information than us. We cannot say he didn’t adapt quickly and he was not fine since he arrived.

“It’s the level he showed since he arrived on day one. We cannot control what people say. When he’s unhappy, he will take his decision.”

The Norwegian talisman has missed 10 games through injury but remains the Premier League’s joint-top scorer with 14 goals.

Asked if he will have to manage the striker’s minutes like he has done with the returning Kevin De Bruyne, Guardiola added: “Well one it was muscular for a surgery and there was a stress for the bone, so it’s a completely different approach.

“But yeah of course, step-by-step.”

The news will strike fear in the rest of the Premier League, with City already bringing back captain De Bruyne two games earlier for the remainder of the season.

The Belgian dug his side out of a hole with an equalizer in a 3-2 comeback win over Newcastle and again featured in a victory over Tottenham in the FA Cup.

Without Haaland City have won nine and drawn one of their last ten games, with his last appearance coming in a 1-0 defeat to Aston Villa.

However, the striker’s return will undoubtedly be a huge boost, having broken the Premier League’s single-season scoring record with 36 goals in his debut campaign last time out.
