The House of Representatives has issued a poignant appeal to the Federal Government, urging the swift release of food reserves to alleviate the widespread hunger plaguing the nation. In response to the dire situation, lawmakers are advocating for the allocation of grains from the reserves to provide relief to impoverished citizens grappling with food insecurity.
The plea comes in the wake of a motion of utmost national significance, presented by Ibrahim Isiaka, representing Ifo/Ewekoro Federal Constituency in Ogun State.
Hon. Isiaka spearheaded the discussion, underscoring the stark realities of the exorbitant cost of living confronting Nigerians.
Of particular concern was the soaring price of cement, despite the abundance of raw materials available for its production. Hon. Isiaka emphasized the urgency of the situation, emphasizing, “The House resolves to urge the Federal Government and stakeholders to immediately open the food reserves to address the hunger in our country.”
Additionally, Hon. Isiaka called on the government to intensify efforts in both food production and distribution to mitigate the crisis.
