Executive and members of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Edo State council, have described Governor Godwin Obaseki as a visionary leader and patriot who has continually impacted positively on the lives of the citizenry through good governance.

They gave the applause last Thursday at the official unveiling of the modern Toyota Hiace bus donated to the union by the Governor to cushion the effect of transportation hardship in the state.

Speaking on behalf of the executive and members, the chairman, Comrade Festus Alenkhe, thanked Governor Obaseki for deeming it necessary to fulfil his promises to the council, saying the bus will serve all purposes to the union.

It could be recalled that the Governor, upon his assumption in office about seven and half years ago, did promise after visiting the NUJ secretariat, to donate a bus to the union to ease its transportation problem.

However, in line with the already established relationship between his government and journalists, Governor Obaseki, about three weeks ago, ordered the delivery of the said bus to the council secretariat and was duly received by the chairman and members.

In his remarks, Alenkhe said Mr. Governor had further rekindled the lost hope of the union members, especially in view of the existing relationship that has radiated between them and his government.

The NUJ boss said the unveiling of the union bus had remained a bolster to his administration’s successes in the state, recalling that Mr Governor, being a friend of Edo journalists, has ceaselessly visited the union to chart a way forward for good governance in the state, a development, he said had brought the reputation of the state chapter of the union to be first among equals.

He also thanked members for their support to his administration as the NUJ chairman in the state, saying for their support and cooperation it would have been difficult to achieve these feats while urging them to key into the developmental policies of the governor to enable him finish strong.
