Friday, in honour of the International Widow Day, the wife of chairpman of Etasko Central, Mrs. Josephine Obomighie, met with widows in Etasko Central LGA.
The event was attended by the Head of the Social Department, Mr. Raphael Eshemokha, Mr Igein Emmanuel, Hon. Veronica Ogbolu, Dr. Godwin Ogamune, and Mrs. Oba Augusta, representative of the MAH and many others. During the gathering, Mrs. Josephine Obomighie addressed the widows, offering words of encouragement and support.
Mrs. Obomighie reminded the widows that life is a journey of both gains and losses, emphasizing that God is always present through both good and challenging times, and urged the widows to stand firm in their faith, knowing that they were not alone and that God is watching over them.
Hon. Christabel Omoh-Ekun, the Edo State Commissioner for Social and Gender, who joined the celebration in Etasko Central LGA, commended Mrs. Josephine Obomighie for her thoughts and shared love for Etasko Central widows on a day like this.
Accordinfg to Igbanor Anthony, Chief Press Secretary, Office of the Executive Chairman Etsako Central LGA in statement, Hon. Chrestabel Omoh-Ekun unwilling love for the Etasko Central community underscores her actions during the visit, as she admonished all widows to direct any concerns or issues related to widows to the office of the chairperson Etasko Central Local Government Area.
Mrs. Obomighie emphasized the importance of widows’ voices be heard and addressed promptly, saying, “I encouraged widows to reach out and engage with my office to ensure their needs are met effectively”.
The gathering was a time of reflection, support, and solidarity, highlighting the importance of coming together as a community to uplift and empower one another, especially during difficult times like those faced by widows. Hon. Etokhana Thaddeus message of resilience and faith resonated with all in attendance, inspiring hope and strength.
The widows’ day celebration in Etasko Central ended with a free medical test and administration of drugs for all at the event.
