The plan by the Edo State government to have at least one Primary Health Centre (PHC) in each local government ward across the state before the end of this administration has come to reality with the building, remodelling, and renovation of 12 PHCs in Benin City. The PHCs are: Oredo, Ugbor, Arougba, Ikkhueniro, Eyean, Ogbeson, Ugbekun, Oluku, Idogbo, Evbuotubu, and Ovbiogie.

This exercise is geared towards making healthcare closer to the people.

During a stakeholders meeting last year, the Executive Secretary of the Edo State Primary Healthcare Development Agency (EDSPHCDA) had disclosed that the upgrade would be extended to 44 PHCs in other senatorial districts of the state.
