The National President of the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, industry, Mines, and Agriculture (NACCIMA), Dele Oye Esq., has urged the Organised Private Sector of Nigeria and other stakeholders to play a proactive role in encouraging their local communities and States to maintain peace and refrain from any form of violence, amid plans of a nationwide protest over the rising cost of living and the economic hardship in the country.

In a statement, Oye noted that as stakeholders in the economic and social stability of the nation, no one can benefit from a crisis situation.

According to him, “In light of the anticipated protests across Nigeria, NACCIMA earnestly appeals to all our partners, the Organised Private Sector of Nigeria and our members to play a proactive role in encouraging their local communities, cities, and states to maintain peace and refrain from any form of violence.

“We are collaborating closely with the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Investment, which recognizes that both government and businesses are significantly affected during periods of unrest.

Oye charged, “We urge you to disseminate this message of peace and calm, emphasizing the importance of dialogue and non-violent approaches to conflict resolution.

“All our Chambers and corporate members are also encouraged to issue similar calls for peace within their networks.”

“By fostering a peaceful environment, we can ensure the continued growth and stability of our economy and society. Let us work together to embrace peace and safeguard our collective future,” he added.
