The paramount ruler of Ibeno, HRM Owong (Prof.) Effiong Archianga, has called on President Bola Tinubu to order the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu with immediate effect as the circumstances that warranted his detention have been overtaken by events.
Speaking with newsmen over the weekend in his palace at Ibeno, the monarch reasoned that since charges of murder and treasonable felony could not be proved by the Federal Government, it was undemocratic, unconstitutional and sheer wickedness for him to be continually incarcerated.
According to the traditional father, as a Nigerian, Nnamdi Kanu deserves the right and freedom of expression as well as agitation.
Owong Archianga further made a case for South East President after President Tinubu’s tenure, noting it does not augur well for brotherly co-existence and civilised democracy for the South East not to have a shot at the country’s president since the inception of democracy in 1999.
“It is my humble opinion that since all the geo- political zones in Nigeria have had a shot into the Presidency, it is only proper for the South Easterner to be given an opportunity to mount the saddle for the sake of equity, justice and fairness as well as fair play,” the monarch recalled, adding that, what is good for the goose is also good for the genders.
On the ongoing Bad Governance/Hunger protests across the country, he noted that it was uncalled for as President Tinubu inherited a comatosed and nosedived economy from his predecessor.
He noted that some miscreants were behind the said protests and expressed the optimism that after the present economic lull, Tinubu’s administration would turn out to be the best in the country.
