The founder and President of Esohe Foundation, a humanitarian and non- governmental organization (NGO), Mrs. Esohe O. Osagiede, says plans have reached an advanced stage to formally launch the Foundation on October 12, 2024, in Benin City.

According to Mrs. Osagiede, as both public and private schools across Edo State resume today, the event will feature the empowerment of the less privileged in the society with the provision of learning, reading and writing materials to pupils in Edo South Senatorial District of the state in the first instance.

A statement by the Foundation’s President indicates that immediately after the launch on October 12, 2024, there will be a massive distribution of learning, reading and writing materials to school pupils on October 14, 2024, across Edo South Senatorial District.

The event, according to Mrs. Osagiede, is scheduled to hold at the Foundation’s office, 33, Stadium Road, former NEPA Building, Off Ekenwan Road, Benin City, in Edo State, and has a mission to “Bring good life to the less privileged through benevolent heartfelt programmes.”

In an interview with The Nigerian Observer, Mrs. Osagiede stated that the Foundation targets “Poverty Elimination, Provision of Healthcare Services for the less privileged; giving educational support through bursary awards, provision of both teaching, learning writing and reading materials and other socio-cultural empowerment to orphans and widows in both rural and urban settings as well as promoting the rich cultural heritage of Edo people.”

She disclosed that she began her philanthropy as a teenager while helping her mother with her siblings after school, pointing out that she always gave out foodstuffs to the needy around her because she hates to see people suffer to eat.

She explained that, way back in the 80s , she always had the desire to give back to the society especially friends, families, and loved ones, adding that she had always gone the extra miles to ensure people around her were happy, moreso as the economic fortunes of most homes in Nigeria today have seriously deteriorated.

She expressed delight that her dream in the early 80s, which was specifically to have a Foundation to cater for the less privileged, has finally come to reality today.

She promised to reach out to more people as time progresses and to be a blessing to millions of people through her Foundation.

Born in the early 80s to her poor parents, Esohe Osagiede hails from Okhun Village, Ovia South-West Local Government Area of Edo State. She lost her father at the age of three while her mother took it upon herself to train her through her foodstuffs business. Her uncle, a medical doctor residing abroad later helped her to travel outside Nigeria for greener pastures.
