AS Roma has officially announced the appointment of Claudio Ranieri as the new Head Coach of the First Team, welcoming back a cherished figure to the club.

In a statement released on its website on Thursday, AS Roma confirmed that Ranieri—a lifelong Roma supporter and former player—will manage the team for the rest of the season. Following that, he will transition into a senior executive role to advise the ownership on sporting matters.

Ranieri, who previously held the head coach position at Roma from 2009 to 2011 and again in 2019, is highly esteemed within the football community.

“He embodies the values of the club and stands as one of the most respected Roman sports figures globally. Ranieri brings with him a vast wealth of expertise and experience from Serie A, the Premier League, La Liga, and Ligue 1, having managed top European clubs and securing historic victories, including his legendary 2016 title win with Leicester,” the statement reads.

The club extended its best wishes to Ranieri for this new chapter in his career, expressing confidence that he will be a significant asset to the team and to the broader AS Roma community.

“Forza Roma and welcome home, Mister,” the statement concluded.

Ranieri takes over from Ivan Juric, who was appointed in September after the dismissal of former club captain Daniele De Rossi. Juric’s tenure ended following a 3-2 home defeat to Bologna on Sunday.

Juric’s brief stint was marked by struggle, securing only four wins out of 12 matches across all competitions. His departure leaves Roma in 12th place in Serie A, a mere four points above the relegation zone.
