The Edo State Police Command says three persons have been arrested in connection with the killing of a vigilance leader and farmer in Errah community Victor Ogedengbe.
According to the Edo State Police Crime Diary signed by CSP Moses Joel Yamu, Police Public Relations Officer, the command said immediate investigation launched by operatives of the Afuze Division led to the arrest of three (3) suspects, namely; lbrahim Agboje (King), Yakubu Abudulkareem and Kareem Audu, all of Erah Community.
The PPRO said the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigations Department for further investigations.
The statement read in parts; “On 25/02/2025 at about 0730hrs, the Chairman of Owan East LGA reported at Afuze Division that one Vigilante Commander Victor Ogedengbe 50yrs of Erah Camp was killed in his farm by suspected herdsmen and was deposited at the hospital.
“Immediate investigation launched by operatives of the Afuze Division led to the arrest of three (3) suspects, namely; lbrahim Agboje (King), Yakubu Abudulkareem and Kareem Audu, all of Erah Community”.
Meanwhile, the Command says it has reviewed the security deployment in Uzanu and environs regarding the killing of two (2) men by suspected herdsmen while in their farms in Okpekpe Community with a view to apprehending the perpetrators and forestall reoccurrence.
The statement added that the Command under the watch of CP Betty Enekpen Isokpan Otimenyin, was irrevocably committed towards a safe Edo State, just as it appreciates the support from the general public.
The command however appealed for more cooperation from the good people of the State by ‘Saying Something when they see something’.
The Command is in receipt of a case of murder reported by one John Okhojibole ‘m’ of Jehovah Witness Road, off Elebesunu Street in Irrua.
The unfortunate incident the PPRO said was reported on the 22/02/2025 at about 1345hrs, when the remains of his 7yr old son named Evans Okojabhole was sighted with his stomach ripped open, and his feet from his ankle and some fingers cut off and dumped in the bush close to their house at the above named address, 24hrs after he was reported missing.
Preliminary investigations the police spokesperson said led to the arrest of two (2) suspects, namely Pastor Ijebor Simon 45 yrs and Destiny Okojabhole 23 yrs, by operatives of Irrua Police Divisional Headquarters and transferred to the State Criminal Investigations Department Benin-City for further investigation.
