The Edo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) has officially terminated its partnership with the New Globe with immediate effect, bringing to an end a collaboration that began in 2018 to digitise and reform basic education across the state.
A formal letter of disengagement has been issued and acknowledged by New Globe, confirming the end of all activities under the agreement.
As part of the disengagement process, New Globe has officially handed over all office keys and facilities it previously occupied to SUBEB.
This decision followed a series of high-level deliberations involving the Board’s executive leadership, directors, the Board Secretary, and representatives of New Globe.
The consultations were chaired by the newly appointed Executive Chairman of SUBEB, Honourable Omonzane Ebanehita Sonia.
The partnership with New Globe was initially intended to enhance literacy and numeracy outcomes in Edo State’s public primary and junior secondary schools through a technology-driven approach to learning.
While the programme achieved some early milestones, recent internal assessments and strategic reviews revealed growing concerns about the compatibility of New Globe’s operations with the current educational goals of the Edo State Government.
Speaking on the development, Hon. Sonia appreciated New Globe for its contributions over the past several years, acknowledging the role it played during the formative stages of Edo State’s digital education journey.
She reaffirmed the Board’s renewed commitment to delivering inclusive, high-quality, and technology-driven basic education to every child in the state.
