The traditional head of Ulegun village in Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area of Edo State, Pa Godspower Oviahon, has led a delegation of elders, youths, and women on a formal thank-you visit to His Royal Majesty, Oba Ewuare II, at the Benin Royal Palace.

The visit was in appreciation of the Oba’s decision to appoint Pa Oviahon as the Odionwere (village head), following the suspension of the former Enogie, Eghosasere Sunday Omoregie, who was among those suspended by the Oba.

To prevent a leadership vacuum in the village, the Benin Monarch had directed the Odionwere, in collaboration with youth leaders (Okaeghele)  to coordinate the administrative and traditional affairs of the community

Speaking with journalists at the palace, the nonagenarian village head expressed gratitude to the Oba for the confidence reposed  in him.

He pledged to lead with integrity and uphold the customs and moral values of the Benin Kingdom, while working towards the development and progress of Ulegun.

Also speaking, the village Secretary, Ohuimumwen Victor, and the Okaeghele, Friday Aibangbe, affirmed their commitment to working closely with the Odionwere to promote unity, accountability, and transparency in local governance.

They prayed for long life, good health, and divine wisdom for the Oba, expressing confidence that his reign would continue to drive the cultural and administrative restructuring of the Benin Kingdom.
