The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has declared that he will not reveal the details of the recent truce brokered between him and suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, stating that the most important thing is the restoration of peace in the state.
Wike made this known on Thursday during a media chat at his residence in Abuja. He said that instead of disclosing specifics, he would allow people to speculate.
“I will allow you to speculate; it’s not my business. All I know is that peace has come,” Wike said.
“If you are not satisfied with that, there is nothing we can do. What is important is that peace has returned; whatever anyone says is not my concern.”
He noted that some individuals had turned the Rivers State crisis into a lucrative venture, using it to illegally enrich themselves for selfish purposes, and expressed that they are now displeased with his reconciliation with Fubara.
Last month, President Tinubu hosted a conciliatory meeting between Wike, Fubara, and the suspended members of the Rivers State House of Assembly, signalling a return to peace.
The President had suspended Fubara, his deputy Ngozi Odu, and members of the Rivers Assembly in March 2025 after a prolonged political impasse in the oil-rich state.
The fallout between Wike and Fubara, his political protégé, stemmed from a struggle for control of political structures in the state.
The crisis escalated as lawmakers loyal to Wike, led by Martin Amaewhule, attempted to impeach Fubara.
Following the suspension, Tinubu appointed and swore in retired naval chief Vice Admiral Ibok-ete Ibas (rtd) as the sole administrator of the state.
