Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu inherited a failed economy from previous administrations but has worked hard to fix it in just 26 months.

Speaking during the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign rally for the August 16 Edo Central Senatorial by-election in Esan Central Local Government Area, the Governor praised Tinubu’s economic policies and his commitment to Edo State.

Okpebholo led APC stakeholders to several wards in the area, including Uwessan and Ewu, where he told party supporters that the President’s support has been instrumental to his own performance as Governor.

He said that within nine months in the Senate, he secured N130 billion from President Tinubu for the construction of the Ekpoma–Auchi–Okpella Road, a feat he claimed the previous PDP senator could not achieve in eight years.

The Governor said he aligned with Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda because of the President’s love for Edo State, adding that Tinubu had directed him to embark on road construction projects with a promise of reimbursement.

“Immediately after the rains, there will be massive road construction across the State,” Okpebholo assured. He also urged voters to support Tinubu for re-election in 2027.

The rally was attended by top APC leaders, including Secretary to the State Government, Umar Musa Ikhilor Esq; Edo Central Senatorial Leader, Gen. Cecil Isekhaigbe (rtd); APC State Deputy Chairman, Sylvester Aigboboh; commissioners; special advisers and other party faithful.
