BENIN CITY – The Coordinator, Office of the First Lady, Mrs. Edesili Okpebholo Anani, has pledged support for humanitarian projects as she congratulated Rtn. Elizabeth Ativie on her installation as the 20th President of the Rotary Club of Benin Metropolitan.

Mrs. Anani, represented by Pharmacist Kenny Okojie, described Ativie’s elevation as a testament to her exemplary leadership and service. 

“Your new role is a well-deserved recognition of your outstanding contributions to our community, and we are confident your tenure will bring a positive impact,” she said.

She added that the Office of the First Lady would collaborate with the new Rotary President to advance the welfare and development of Edo State.

In her speech, Ativie expressed gratitude to God and welcomed guests, new Rotarians and awardees. 

She highlighted the club’s projects in basic education, literacy, disease prevention, water hygiene, maternal and child healthcare, peacebuilding, microcredit support for widows and youth empowerment.

Outgoing President, Rtn. Oghosa Jackson Godson, outlined the club’s achievements and expressed confidence in Ativie’s leadership. 

The event featured fundraising for humanitarian projects, induction of new members and presentation of meritorious awards.

Award recipients included Mrs. Anani; Edo State Deputy Governor, Hon. Dennis Idahosa; Speaker, Edo State House of Assembly, Hon. Blessing Agbebaku; Secretary to the State Government, Barr. Umar Musa Ikhilor, and Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu.
